Following Neil Peart’s death, the surviving members of Rush got bombarded by drummers hoping to take his place.
In a radio interview, guitarist Alex Lifeson said “After Neil passed, it didn’t take more than a few minutes before we started getting e-mails from all kinds of drummers who wanted to audition for the band… I don’t know what some of these people were thinking.”

Alex Lifeson maintains that Rush will never reunite with a new drummer, though he and Geddy Lee have discussed making music together again.
Lifeson is currently focused on his band Envy of None and his love for playing guitar.
