Despite spending years as a member of Van Halen and his own band Mammoth WVH, Wolfgang Van Halen says he was “incredibly nervous” performing at this year’s Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
He joined Tool’s Maynard James Keenan, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, and producer Andrew Watt for a performance of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train”.
In a radio interview, Wolfgang revealed he got the request from Ozzy himself: “So you don’t say, ‘Yeah, no.’ You’re, like, ‘I’ll do what I can, sir.’”
Wolfie says he felt “out of place” surrounded by “a crazy supergroup of people” – but that everyone “made it really easy.”
He was especially stoked to meet Keenan: “I’ve been a huge TOOL fan my whole life and he’s one of my favorite singers.”
