The house where the Grateful Dead got their name is currently up for sale.

The two-bedroom home in Palo Alto, CA was rented by bassist Phil Lesh in 1965, when the band was performing as ‘The Warlocks’.

It was Jerry Garcia who came up with the name, after opening a dictionary and pointing his finger at random, landing on the phrase ‘grateful dead’.

It was probably a better name than Garcia’s other idea, ‘Mythical Ethical Icicle Tricycle’.

The house is currently listed for $2.695 million.
