No league is too niche for the 49ers’ scouting department.

San Francisco has accrued talent in years past from the AAF — signing Daniel Brunskill and Damontre Moore from the San Diego Fleet in 2019 — and has rostered a former Saskatchewan Roughrider (of the Canadian Football League) on last year’s (offensive lineman Dakoda Shepley) and this year’s (cornerback Rashard Robinson) team.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the team is now signing ex-USFL linebacker Kyahva Tezino.

Nick Bosa’s holdout has given the team an extra, temporary roster spot. He is on the reserve/did not report list.

Tezino was a standout at San Diego State who spent time with the Carolina Panthers, and more recently with the Pittsburgh Maulers in the USFL, where he played alongside former 49er Reuben Foster.

With Pittsburgh, Tezino had two interceptions and 94 combined tackles, which ranked second most in the league. His nine tackles for a loss and 53 solo tackles both led the league, in which the Maulers finished runners up to the Birmingham Stallions.
