A new rock album is helping surgeons on their Highway to Heal.
Following a German medical study from 2022 that showed listening to rock music led to an increase in efficiency in the operating room, Lifesaving Radio created an album to help surgeons during procedures.
Lifesaving Radio is “The world’s first album and AI radio station clinically designed to improve surgical performance and help surgeons save lives.”
NextMed Health and Klick Health debuted Highway to Heal, which includes songs like Shoot to Drill and EKG, performed by professional AC/DC tribute musicians.
“We are excited to bring Highway to Heal and Lifesaving Radio to the medical community–rockstars in their own right,” said NextMed Health Founder & Chair Daniel Kraft, M.D.
The website explains, “To help surgical teams stay efficient, energized, and in the zone when lives are on the line, we rewrote the songs of AC/DC, the band clinically shown to amplify surgical precision, then customized the OR audio experience to maximize its surgical effect.”
The surgeon-friendly lyrics of Highway to Heal are:
Breathing easy, paging me
Mark the site to cut you on the right side
Asking questions, start IV
Taking corners on a gurney ride
I’m the reason, you’ll be fine
Ain’t nothing that I’d rather do
Scrubbing in, party time
My nurse is gonna be there tooI’m on the highway to heal
Highway to heal
Highway to heal
I’m on the highway to healVital signs, beats per minute
Nobody’s gonna slow me down
Wield my steel, you won’t feel it
Anesthesia has you sleeping so sound
Hey, patient, you can’t lose
Yeah, your life is safe in my hands
Hey, Doctor, we’re home free
We’re on our way to the promised scansI’m on the highway to heal
Highway to heal
Highway to heal
I’m on the highway to heal
Don’t stop meI’m on the highway to heal
On the highway to heal
I’m on the highway to heal
On the highway to heal(Highway to heal) I’m on the highway to heal
(Highway to heal) I’m on the highway to heal
(Highway to heal) Doctor, highway to heal
(Highway to heal)And I’m scrubbing out
All the way
I’m on the highway to heal
