Benson Boone made his Coachella debut unforgettable by inviting a true rock legend to join him onstage—Queen guitarist Brian May. During Boone’s Friday night set, the 22-year-old pop star performed “Bohemian Rhapsody” and shocked the crowd when May, 77, rose from beneath the stage to deliver the song’s iconic solo.
Despite Boone’s enthusiastic “Brian May, everybody!” the young crowd gave a surprisingly muted response. Boone later poked fun at the moment in a viral TikTok, recreating the scene with a banana as a mic and acting out his disappointment when May’s entrance didn’t get the raucous reaction it deserved.
May, who recently recovered from a stroke, stayed onstage to play Boone’s breakout hit “Beautiful Things.” Fans praised the performance and Boone’s respect for rock history.
Boone returns to the Coachella stage this Friday—maybe this time the crowd will recognize greatness when they see it.
