Metallica will perform at the final Black Sabbath concert in Birmingham, England, as a way to thank Sabbath for inventing heavy metal and paving the way for other bands.
Kirk Hammett expressed his gratitude towards Black Sabbath, stating, “It’s a real opportunity to say thank you to Ozzy and Tony and Geezer and Bill, ’cause they freaking wrote the book on the genre.”

Hammett acknowledged Sabbath’s influence on the genre, mentioning, “If it wasn’t for those four guys, man, we might still be just kind of like wandering around in the dark.”
The guitarist emphasized his admiration for Sabbath, saying, “I love those guys. I have love for them for what they did.”
Metallica will also continue their “M72 World Tour” with a new North American leg starting in April, following the Black Sabbath concert.
