Styx’s Lawrence Gowan says South Park had a major influence on the band’s fanbase: “I’m happy to admit that’d I’d say it’s 1% our effort and 99% South Park’s influence.”
In a recent interview, Gowan called Cartman’s version of “Come Sail Away” the definitive version, followed by the original Styx recording.
Gowan adds that he’s a big fan of the show: “Every night after the show, that’s one of the things I go to when I’m on the tour bus.”
Styx’s new album, Circling From Above, is set for release in late May, and the band will embark on the Brotherhood of Rock tour with Kevin Cronin in April.
