ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard is stepping away from the band’s current tour for health reasons.
In a statement, the band says Beard will “attend to a health issue requiring his focus in the near term.”
His replacement has been announced as John Douglas, a “fellow Texan and longtime tech member, percussionist and drummer.”
He previously played with ZZ Top in 2002 when Beard had an emergency appendectomy.
ZZ Top’s Elevation Tour is ongoing and scheduled to run through the end of August.
