Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello can still remember the first time he saw KISS. Or rather, the first time he attended a KISS concert – because he couldn’t actually see the band.
Morello says it was his first concert ever, at Chicago Stadium in 1977 – and he bought a ‘partial view’ ticket that stuck him behind a pole.
Despite his obstructed view, Morello called it “the most exciting 2 hours I had experienced in my life” – even if “I had to look around the pole to see Gene breathing fire and whatnot.”
The show was a “life changing moment” that “made me go, ‘Hallelujah.’ ‘Rock and roll’s for me.’”
