Springsteen Talks Mortality

“Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band” made its premiere in Toronto this week.

The film, which is narrated by Springsteen himself, gives fans a glimpse at the band’s creative process and touches upon age, the present, and mortality.

Longtime manager Jon Landau says, “There’s a philosophical thing about a person who’s going to be 75 [soon] — mortality. The film captures that. It’s not a genre film. It’s a Bruce film.”

The New Jersey-born rocker turns 75 on September 23.

In the film, Springsteen’s wife and E Street bandmate, Patti Scialfa, also reveals that she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer.
