There are reinforcements on the way in the 49ers secondary.

Cornerback has been a clear point of concern for San Francisco this season, with slot corner Isaiah Oliver finding himself benched and Deommodore Lenoir struggling at times, but looking perhaps like a better fit in Oliver’s role.

So on Saturday, the 49ers activated rookie corner Darrell Luter Jr. — a fifth-round draft pick — from the Reserve/Physically unable to perform list. Luter had been dealing with a bone bruise in his knee suffered before training camp. It’s interesting the 49ers chose to activate Luter before Samuel Womack III, who had his 21-day practice return window opened the same day as Luter, as did rookie defensive end Robert Beal Jr.

With Nick Zakelj (biceps) and Aaron Banks (toe) both out, the 49ers also activated offensive lineman Corey Luciano from the practice squad.

Below are the 49ers’ inactives for Sunday:

  • G Aaron Banks (toe)
  • TE Brayden Willis
  • RB Tyrion Davis-Price
  • LB Jalen Graham
  • DL Kalia Davis
  • QB Brandon Allen (third qb)

Tampa Bay, meanwhile, elevated safety Richard LeCounte III from the practice squad to the active roster. Below are the Buccaneers’ inactives:

  • RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn
  • SS Ryan Neal
  • LB Cam Gill
  • G Matt Feiler
  • TE David Wells
  • QB John Wolford (third qb)

A win Sunday would keep the 49ers in first place in the NFC West ahead of a massively important Thanksgiving night matchup in Seattle.
