It appears the 49ers can breathe a sigh of relief. Left guard Aaron Banks left Sunday night’s game with a biceps injury, with a severity that was not immediately clear.

A worst-case scenario could have meant a season-ending biceps tear, but Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Banks avoided that. It was re-designated as a shoulder injury.

Shanahan admitted his relief.

“Yeah, any time it’s the bicep, we were obviously nervous about it,” Shanahan said. “Still an injury, but not as bad as it could have been.”

The former second-round pick in 2021 has been a staple of the 49ers’ offensive line since taking over the starting left guard spot a year ago. Veteran interior lineman Jon Feliciano relieved Banks on Sunday. Banks was designated as day-to-day.

The only other injury mentioned by Shanahan was running back Elijah Mitchell, who missed a second-straight game with a knee injury. He was also listed as day-to-day and could practice Wednesday.
