The 49ers will not be with star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk on Thursday night. Aiyuk suffered a left shoulder injury on his first catch against the Rams, when he landed hard on the turf at SoFi Field.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Aiyuk will be out.

While he played through the injury on Sunday, he was limited for much of the game and was expected to have missed the first practice of this week. He was listed as limited in the team’s walkthrough on Tuesday, and with the abbreviated Thursday timeline always meant it would be a challenge for Aiyuk to play.

With that in mind, the team made two moves, including a reversal of a signing they made earlier this week at corner. It could be an opportunity for an increased workload for rookie Ronnie Bell.

The following comes from the 49ers:

The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have promoted CB Tre Swilling to the active roster from the team’s practice squad. In order to make room on the roster, the team released CB Anthony Brown.

In addition, the following players have been activated from the team’s practice squad (standard elevations):

Pos.          Number               Name

WR           84                          Chris Conley

CB            38                          Shemar Jean-Charles

Brown (5-11, 196) originally signed with the team on September 19, 2023.
