Dave Grohl and Shane Hawkins recently played a gig with Chevy Metal, the classic rock covers band founded by Grohl’s late bandmate (and Shane’s dad) Taylor Hawkins.
The group performed at Harley’s Valley Bowl, a Simi Valley, CA bowling alley, covering songs by Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Kinks, and Spinal Tap.
Other celebs joined in, including Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction.
This isn’t the first time Shane has performed for a crowd. Shane joined Chevy Metal on stage at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California a few weeks ago. He also joined the Foo Fighters on stage during the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert to play the drums for the song “My Hero.” The concert, which was filmed at Wembley Stadium on September 3rd, picked up an Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Variety Series Or Special!”
Shane won Drumeo’s “Performance Of The Year” prize for his contributions to the Foo Fighters’ “My Hero” at London’s Wembley Stadium and at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.
