March Madness just got a whole lot more metal.

In recent years, Virginia Tech fans – also known as Hokies – have become known for playing Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” at home games in Blacksburg, Virginia.

So, when it was announced that Virginia Tech earned a number one spot to host games in the first weekend of the highly anticipated NCAA tournament, fans were eager to hear “Enter Sandman”.

However, in an attempt to keep the tournament as neutral as possible NCAA banned schools from playing traditional songs. But, Virginia Tech fans found a way around the rule and sang the song acappella during their game against Chattanooga on Friday.

Singing “Enter Sandman” may have paid off because Virginia Tech beat the number 16 seed Chattanooga with a 58-33 victory.
