Get ready to see Winnie-the-Pooh in a whole new light.
Audiences recently got a trailer for the unorthodox slasher flick, “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey,” which depicts Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet going on a violent rampage through the Hundred Acre Wood after they are abandoned by Christopher Robin.
“Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Horror” will get a U.S. theatrical release from Fathom events on February 15, 2023. Hundreds of theaters nationwide will show the film.
The director, Rhys Frake-Waterfield said they, “Tried to be extremely careful,” around copyright issues. Since Disney retains exclusive use of their interpretations, Waterfield, “Did as much as [he] could to make sure [the film] was only based on the 1926 version of it.”
Waterfield also addressed his balancing act between horror and comedy, “When you try and do a film like this, and it’s a really wacky concept, it’s very easy to go down a route where nothing is scary and it’s just really ridiculous and really, like, stupid…And we wanted to go between the two.”
Audiences are also being treated to a slasher parody of The Grinch this holiday season.
